AGRICULTURE EDUCATION DAYS
Agriculture Education Day is an exciting annual event aimed at providing local elementary school students with hands-on learning experiences about agriculture. Launched in 2022, this event is organized by The Great Allentown Fair and the Lehigh County Agricultural Society, in collaboration with the Lehigh County Granges, the Lehigh County Farm Bureau, and the Penn State Agricultural Extension and 4-H Program.

Each year, fourth-grade students from Allentown School District visit the Allentown Fairgrounds to participate in a variety of interactive stations. These stations cover a range of agricultural topics, such as dairy farming, plant and vegetable cultivation, honey production, sheep shearing, equine care, and more. The students also get a chance to learn about the history of fairs and discover what it takes to compete for blue ribbons at The Great Allentown Fair.

Agriculture Education Day is designed to help students better understand where their food comes from, how farming produces the food and fiber we use every day, and what “farm to table” truly means. Through these engaging, hands-on activities, students not only deepen their knowledge of agriculture but also develop a stronger connection to the community and its agricultural roots. The event continues to grow each year, becoming a cherished tradition for students, educators, and volunteers alike.

  • Reviewing Annual Activities: It provides a comprehensive overview of the society’s events, initiatives, and accomplishments over the past year, highlighting successes and areas for improvement.
  • Setting Future Goals: The address outlines strategic objectives and plans for the upcoming year, ensuring alignment with the society’s mission to promote agricultural education and community engagement.
  • Engaging Stakeholders: By presenting this address, the society fosters transparency and strengthens relationships with members, partners, and the broader community, encouraging active participation and support.
